GTA: San Andreas Interiors

This is an exercise for those uncertain of how to travel in the interior universes of GTA: San Andreas.
- You will need nothing other than the game, a PS2 and the jet-pack button-code.[the jet-pack cheat is: Left, Right, L1, L2, R1, R2, Up, Down, Left, Right]. I recommend flying the jet-pack around the outside world first. Take note of how it descends lightly when you move forward and how you often you have to do a short burst upwards to maintain your level. There will not be many reference points to judge this in the interior universes. It will help greatly if you do it instinctively.
Getting Started With GTA: San Andreas Interiors
- Start in normal game world Los Santos with a gun. You might want to take a parachute and camera, but you will definitely need to kill someone and guns are fast.
- Enter the Ganton Gym and kill the four people inside. This is important. Make sure they are dead.
- Enter the button code for the Jet-pack. ( Left, Right, L1, L2, R1, R2, Up, Down, Left, Right)
- With the jet-pack on, fly up through one of the holes in the ceiling. There is one in the corner by the running machine.
A Brief Explanation
Most interiors are above the maximum height limit for flying vehicles. Because of this the Jet-pack will not work in most interiors. For some reason it does work in a few and one of these is the Ganton Gym.
Usually - as soon as you fly out of the gym and travel a short distance - you begin to descend because you shouldn't be flying at this height. For some reason (don't ask why) if you kill all the people in the gym the game seems to give you a bigger area to fly around in. This is a glitch in the game.
The Camera and Parachute: The camera is simply if you want to document your travels in the interior worlds like a proper tourist. The Parachute is useful because it comes with an altimeter (by the radar) which gives you a better idea of whether you are falling or not. If the altimeter doesn't show up it might have something to do with the weapons you are carrying.
Once through the roof, land on top of the gym and take a moment to get your bearings.
You are now in 'Heaven-A'. This is known as 'Gym Heaven'.
- Once through the roof, land on top of the gym and take a moment to get your bearings. You are now in 'Heaven-A'. This is known as 'Gym Heaven'.
- Press the SELECT button until you have the widest-angle view. This will help you to find what you're looking for.
Here's a map of the interiors around the gym: Gym Glitch Map.
You should notice that the markers are coloured differently/similarly to other markers. Only markers of the same colour will be visible at any one time. The Ganton Gym is number 1 on this map. It has the same colours as 21,22,25,36 and 55 because these interiors all load together.
You should also see that a red area surrounds these markers. In fact No.36 and No.55 are in this 'Red-Zone'. The Red-Zone marks the area where the glitch that allows the jet-pack to fly will stop working. It is possible, although difficult. to strafe to 36, but 55 maybe impossible to fly to without a cheat device.
- Pause the game and press X to bring up the game-map. You will see your position marked by a flashing white indicator and some orange cross-hairs. Use the directional buttons or the left analogue stick to move the cross hairs. Position them so they cross at marker 2 (a magenta coloured marker to the right of the gym). Press CIRCLE to mark this position with a Red Marker. Note: Marker 2 is often referred to as 'Denise's House' because it is quite near it on the map. In-fact the map isn't aligned correctly and you are actually way above Red County - but that's not important right now.# ly upwards and stop (L2 + R2) when you are about twice the height of CJ above the gym.
You are about to fly over some buildings about the same height as the gym. You don't want to be so high that you couldn't see them, but you also don't want to crash into them.
Oh yeah - did I mention that these buildings are invisible?! - While you are still above the gym - turn to face the red-marker, then fly towards it.
You may see some people inside these invisible buildings. Use these as a guide to your height. If you find yourself getting sucked downwards - you will have to start again. If you see "LOADING" flash briefly on the screen - you have gone too low. Start again.Be aware that the jet-pack naturally gets lower as you move forwards, so give some short upward bursts now and again.
- Stop (L2 + R2) when you reach the Red-Marker (No.2 on the map / Denise's House).
Look around and you should hopefully see a Yellow marker (exactly like you see in front of enterable buildings). If you are close enough you will hear some music.
There is an invisible but solid floor under this marker - land on it and walk into the yellow marker. This marker leads to the interior of a brothel not used in the finished game. You may see it marked on some maps as 'Strip Club' or 'Angel Pine Motel' . This is because nobody really knew what it was before someone looked through the game code. So we just guessed.
- Stand inside the marker and press TRIANGLE to remove the Jet-pack. The yellow marker will now teleport you inside the Brothel. The game will now un-load 'Gym-Heaven' and load the Heaven where the brothel visibly loads. This is 'Heaven-B' which is also called 'Ho Heaven'.
- You are in the Brothel. Congratulations you have successfully travelled from one heaven to another.
Depending on your exact position when you entered - you may or may not have the Jet-pack. It may be floating around near you. If you can't see it or reach it just do the jet-pack cheat again.
The floor and walls are solid, but the furniture and ceiling are not.Fly up through the ceiling and the sky should be a normal sky colour.
- Hopefully you will have got the hang of flying by now. I'm not going to give many more tips on it so just try and be aware of your height at all times. The parachute altimeter won't actually show much as you are above its maximum height. But if you see it dropping you may have to re-start.Note: Look South and you will see the interior for another Brothel. Let's head over there next.
- Once you've spotted the other brothel, simply fly over to it and land on top. Its ceiling is solid. If you hadn't guessed already - this is marker 3.
- The only way inside is to fly through the space where the door should be. It's a short hallway on the eastern side, next to a tiger-skin rug. Just walk off the edge, turn and fly through this hallway. You are now inside.
- Now for something that sounds stupid, but trust me.
Take off your jet-pack and walk back down the hallway towards the outside.
See? You didn't fall to your death. You just reappeared back inside.OK, here's what just happened:
The 'doorway' at the end of the hall functions the same as a yellow marker. In a sense there is a yellow marker there. It's just invisible.
When you first came in you had the jet-pack on, so you didn't activate it. When not wearing a jet-pack you can use these markers to 'teleport' to their specific interiors. You would have noticed a similar effect in the first brothel (2) if you had turned around after you entered. Also - You might also notice that if you pause then unpause the game the caption 'Brothel' will appear. That is because the game now recognizes you as being in the brothel. It knows this because you just 'entered' it officially through a marker (alright - an invisible one!). It won't register that you've left until you enter another marker.
- Ok - This brothel is solid, it is fully furnished and if it wasn't missing that door it would be completely finished. Have a look around if you want to. This is a great interior.
- Ready to move on? Follow me.We're still in Ho Heaven, let's see what else is out there.
- Look on the map. See No.4 between the Gym(1) and the Brothels(2&3)? See how it's the same colour as the Brothels? That means it will now be loaded and visible. It's the building you flew over earlier. Go take a look.
- Bring up the game map again. Put the red marker over the position of No.4 and fly to it.
- It's the Betting Shop. Ok, let's try changing Heavens again. So we need to enter a yellow marker without a loaded interior around it. By doing this you will load that interior, and therefore everything else that loads in that heaven too.
- Try to get to marker 8. Check the Heaven Marker Key and you will see that 8 will load Liberty heaven. You should see interiors 5 and 6 on the way. If you go too far you'll see 9. Remember you are only looking for a yellow marker.
- With a lot of markers you will find you have to negotiate around a number of invisible walls to access it. Some times you'll find it easy; others you'll get frustrated and think you can never do it. It helps if you can visualize the interior around it because that's all these walls are. On this occasion I dropped in from above just slightly north of the yellow marker. The sky is black here and there's a reflective floor.
- Walk into the marker, remove jet-pack and teleport away to Liberty heaven.
- If you've made it this far then you've pretty much covered the basics. Explore some more if you want, change heavens, search interiors, it's up to you. I'm going down to the ground. Care to join me?
- If you're now down on the ground, go to my links page and open up one of the other Gym-aligned maps. We're now interested in numbers 37, 57 and 65. At these points on the ground you will find visible exterior locations that appear in all interior worlds.37 = Doherty Garage. 57 = The Burning Desire building. 65 = The Atrium. You will also see many weapons, health and other pick-ups in their normal position in the now invisible landscape. Remember that your map is no longer accurately portraying your real position. It is skewed. If you happen to still be in Liberty heaven go and check out the Doherty Garage. You'll see it's interior is loaded - you don't see that everyday. The Atrium's interior loads in Zip Heaven and The Burning desire house's interior actually loads back up high in the air (above it's exterior in the red-zone) so you can't see that without cheats. If you've got a car saved in the garage you can now drive it, but it will be invisible.
- The easiest ways to get back to the normal world are to reload your last save or kill yourself [I'm talking about CJ, before I get sued]. Another way would be to drive your invisible car into the invisible Transfender (if you have a car that can be modded there). After you exit you'll be back in the real work - otherwise known as Universe K.
GTA: San Andreas Interiors Tips
- Practice flying the jet-pack before you try it in an interior universe.
- Keep the camera on the widest angle view, so that you can see lots of what's around you.
- Strafing (L2 for left, R2 for right) can carry you further distances into the red-zone. But don't stop before you get where you're going.
- When not in the Red-Zone - stop every now and again (L2+R2). This will help get your bearings and give you a more confident control over the jet-pack.
- If you're sure you're in the right spot, but can't see a yellow marker, you may be too high or too low. I'd suggest going higher than you think it should be. Then descend while spinning. You should catch a glimpse of the yellow as it rotates around you. Stop (L2+R2) and go to it.
- Remember: not all yellow markers are visible in all heavens.
- If you have the right guns equipped (test in the gym before you leave) holding R1 will allow you to aim around you, giving you a better view of things above and below you.
- Plot your routes around other visible things. This will update you about your height in relation to them. You might want to try short flights from interior to interior, rather than one long flight where you don't see anything else along the way.
- Don't land on the SFPD or go around the north side of it. It is just in the Red-Zone and you will be unable to fly any further.
- If you miss an interior in the red-zone (such as a girlfriend interior) and go too low, it is known (but difficult) that you can sometimes fly back up to it if you go directly underneath. Once your head touches the interiors floor, move along and then slide up the outside wall until you are on top.
