GTA Fighting Basics

The first thing you'll need to do when fighting in GTA is target your opponent. You do this by pressing the left trigger whilst 'looking' at someone. The person closest to your line of view is locked and displays a target symbol.

A handy thing for you to be able to do in any fight is to hold up your guard and you can do this by holding down the left trigger and then holding down the 'A' button. Your guard stays up as long as you keep those two buttons down. You'll still get knocked around with your guard up, but the damage will be substantially less than if you just had your hands down.

Now the good bit: how to f*ck someone up! Kicking and punching are all controlled by the 'X', 'Y' and 'B' buttons and must be pressed whilst holding down the left trigger. Use 'X' to kick, 'Y' to throw a straight right cross and 'B' to throw a lightning left jab.

You'll have more success if you mix and match different combinations of techniques and remember to keep your guard up. Keeping your guard up after a combination is thrown is a good idea as there is often a pause that is interrupted unexpectedly by your opponent whacking you in the head.

GTA Fighting Tips

Yeah, you guessed it. Kick 'em in the 'nads. This technique is a real eye waterer and never fails to get the party started in the right mood. If you want to make a really good impression, you can even kick them when they're down too.

GTA Bowling Tutorial

Very early on in the game you get a tutorial when you take Michelle on a date. If you follow that bowling tutorial, you're all set up for any bowling that comes afterwards. If you skip that tutorial, however, you're goosed. Unless you follow these instructions:

• go to the counter to get your instructions
• pick the lane furthest to the left
• when actually bowling, take two full steps to the left using the left stick
• ready yourself
• hold down the right stick for a whole second
• push the stick up
• gobble gobble (err... strike)
• get two more strikes and you get the gobble gobble achievement.

El Burro runs an "exotic entertainment business". He appears to be an (ex)-porn star and publishes adult magazines. He also seems to have a fetish for donkeys as he has an irreplaceable collection of donkey memorabilia and produces "Donkey Does Dallas volumes 1, 2 and 3".

The Diablos are a Puerto Rican street gang. The leader of the Diablos is El Burro (who has been under observation by police since 1997, as mentioned in GTA III's official website). The only activities known to be associated with the Diablos are prostitution, street violence and pornography, although they had also been known to engage in gun battles with the Liberty City Triads. The Diablos maintain control of Hepburn Heights in Liberty City.

The Diablos play an important role in Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories being one of the gangs used by the Sicilian Mafia to attack interests of the Leone family. They are first seen when Toni Cipriani is enlisted to follow Massimo Torini, then a member of the Leone family after Salvatore Leone suspected somebody was betraying him. Massimo meets with a group of Diablos at Hepburn Heights and tells them that if they worked with his associates (later revealed to be the Sicilian Mafia) Hepburn Heights would belong to them. The Diablos then attacked the Leone family goons in a large scale battle that takes place in Hepburn Heights, where the Leones are overwhelmed by a large quantity of Diablos armed with MAC-10 sub machine guns. Following the fight the Diablos seize control of Hepburn Heights.

In Grand Theft Auto III they are involved in gang wars with the Liberty City Triads. They also appear to be having spats with the Yardies for dissing Queen Lizzy, and with the Yakuza for trying to steal some protection money, both times ending up in the slaughter of a large number of Diablo gang members.

In Grand Theft Auto III, Diablo members are seen wearing dark blue jackets donning the Diablos gang logo (a yellow crown) at the back, long pants and bandanas. In Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories, Diablos members don fishnets or red bandanas on their heads, red shirts or jackets, and black or brown pants.

Our main focus is "Grove Street Families", but the "Temple Drive Families" and "Seville Boulevard Families" are sets that used to be part of the same gang as Grove Street. The all still wear the same green colours, but aren't necessarily friendly. Collectively these sets are known as "The Families".

I have 2 explainations for this. Neither is confirmed. This is just speculation.

1. Orange Grove Families was the name of the gang before it split into 3.
   or more likely -
2. There are also references to the main members of Grove Street Families not wearing green. These can be seen in early publicity photos, and imagery within the final game. It may be that the Green Uniform of the Grove gang was a late addition. At this point it could have been decided to drop the "Orange" from the name to avoid confusion.

Grove Street Families History

By Street gang standards the Grove Street Families were once big players in Los Santos. In recent years (early 90's) they have been weakened by internal arguments and the growing influx of drugs to the area. Sweet Johnson was adamant that the Families wouldn't get involved with the drugs trade, but this has seen them lose ground, control and wealth to the nearby Ballas and Vagos gangs. As a result the once mighty gang have split into 3 opposing factions.

Sweet is a firm believer in staying true to his roots and doing what's best "for the Grove". He believes that if only he can get the old gang to reform then all their lives can be made better.

Unfortunately other members are only out for themselves and no longer feel the solidarity of the gang's past. Even his own sister, Kendl, is dating a member of a rival gang.
